At Ultima, we have many years of expertise supplying protective equipment and we offer a wide selection of PPE to meet your health and safety requirements. This includes protective clothing like safety visors, overalls, respirators, and waterproof coveralls. Our protective coveralls are ideal for employees working in environments at risk of biohazards and cross-contamination.

Storing your PPE

PPE must be stored correctly to protect it from contamination, damage, or deterioration. When PPE is not in use, keep it stored in a clean, dry location e.g. a cupboard. Contaminated PPE must be stored separately, away from other PPE and equipment. Make sure that PPE can be accessed quickly in an emergency and make employees aware of where PPE is kept in the workplace.

Recommended PPE maintenance should also be followed to keep your equipment functioning correctly. It is a good idea to nominate someone who is responsible for PPE maintenance. They must inspect your PPE regularly and look for signs of wear or faults. If PPE is reusable then it must be cleaned properly after every use to keep it in good condition.

Helping you stay safe

We also supply products to ensure safe and efficient biohazardous waste and needle disposal. Our sharps disposal box provides a safe, efficient, and cost-effective solution for disposing of contaminated sharps.

Sharps such as hypodermic needles are classified as biohazardous waste and so they must be disposed of in line with government safety guidelines. Sharps can easily break the skin and expose people to serious life-threatening infections like HIV and Hepatitis B.

If your facility handles sharps, then employees should be provided with the appropriate PPE and you must have clinical waste bins to store used sharps safely before they are collected. In our shop, you can purchase secure sharps bins and a sharps picker to ensure the safe disposal of needles and other sharps.
