What is ATP testing?
Adenosine Trisphosphate (ATP) is an energy molecule found in all living things including bacteria. The detection of ATP is therefore a clear indicator in determining the effectiveness of cleaning processes in removing bacteria.
ATP hygiene testing works by combining ATP with a liquid-stable reagent. The chemical reaction caused by the combination emits light, which is then measured as a direct proportion to the amount of ATP present (RLU’s).
The process of ATP testing is very straight-forward and easy to use and provides a rapid indicator of hygiene standards that would otherwise require lab testing.
Simply swab the area you would like to test, snap the valve at the top of the swab, then squeeze the liquid down to the bottom of the swab to react. Place the swab inside the luminometer and record the results.
Key Benefits
The Hygiena SystemSure Plus ATP Machine offers several key benefits that make it an essential tool for hygiene monitoring:
- High Sensitivity: Detects even minute levels of ATP, ensuring the identification of the smallest traces of contamination.
- Advanced Photodiode Sensor: Maintains low variation and consistent calibration for reliable and accurate results.
- User-Friendly Interface: Simple symbol keypad and large, backlit screen for ease of use by operators of any skill level.
- Lightweight and Portable: Handheld design and long battery life make it convenient for use in various settings, from large industrial environments to smaller facilities.
- Rapid Results: Provides quick verification of cleaning effectiveness, saving time compared to traditional lab testing methods.
ATP Cleaning Verification Workflow
The ATP cleaning verification workflow with the Hygiena SystemSure Plus is designed for simplicity and efficiency.
- First, swab the area to be tested to collect any potential ATP residues.
- Snap the valve at the top of the ATP swab and squeeze the liquid down to the bottom to initiate the chemical reaction.
- Insert the swab into the luminometer, which then measures the emitted light.
- The results, expressed in Relative Light Units (RLUs), provide a rapid and accurate assessment of cleanliness.
- This straightforward process allows for immediate verification of cleaning effectiveness, ensuring high hygiene standards are consistently met without the need for time-consuming laboratory tests.
Science-Based Cleaning Verification System
The Hygiena SystemSure Plus ATP Machine provides a robust cleaning verification system grounded in scientific principles:
- ATP Detection: ATP, present in all living cells, serves as a reliable indicator of biological contamination.
- Accurate Measurement: The luminometer accurately detects light emitted from the chemical reaction between ATP and the reagent, translating it into quantifiable data.
- Objective Assessment: Provides a direct assessment of surface and equipment cleanliness by measuring ATP levels.
- Compliance Support: Helps ensure environments meet rigorous hygiene standards and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Reliable Verification: Offers objective verification of cleaning protocols, ensuring high hygiene standards are consistently met.
